Today’s inspiration. Madame Grès

Germaine Émilie Krebs aka Alix Barton aka “Madame Grès” was trained as a sculptor but she was a couture designer by heart. To me she was one of the greatest designers of the past century. No one payed so much attention to details as she did, no one did draping as good as she did. Germaine was one of the first designers who introduced the concept of cut-outs.  Germaine Émilie opened a fashion house in Paris in 1942 under the name Grès and I should say she had a very long fashion career (she was working till late 80’s). Alix was known for her extraordinary couture gowns and “Madame Grès” had the most popular celebrities among her clients.  Her every single creation is timeless and they will never go out of fashion!

Distressed denim and fringe

Distressed denim and fringe – I am a big fan of both. I was imagining how I would style these in one outfit and the first image that came to my mind was a suede fringe jacket. I added high rise destroyed denim jeans, black turtleneck, Gucci high-heeled red suede pumps and Gucci canvas and leather bag. Here we go, it would be my perfect look for brunch or quick evening dinner with gal pals:) Do you wear distressed denim and fringe? Share your ideas and inspirations!

Today’s inspiration. Denim.

Denim jackets, denim skirts, denim shorts, denim dresses, denim overalls, denim everything… I wish I could wear denim every single day as it is one of the most versatile fabrics ever. We saw it on the red carpet, didn’t we? 🙂 Denim is so different and it’s always a pleasure to see it’s comebacks on the major runaways but always with a new twist. Denim became popular in 1873 when mister Jacob Davis created his first pair of denim jeans and since then it had never left us. So today’s inspiration is Denim  – a material with so many faces!

Gucci S/S 2016

Alessandro Michele is creating magic…literally. After he joined the Gucci empire, he totally reinvented the whole concept of the brand. Gucci became bright, colourful and very 70’s! I guess it’s hate-it-or-love-it relationship. Since Alessandro became Gucci’s creative director in January 2015, he keeps everyone’s attention with successful and intriguing collections. Gucci S/S 2016 is not an exception,  you look at those clothes and somehow you are sure that you have always wanted to wear it. So let’s look and enjoy!!

Smart dressing or What I have in common with Olivia Wilde.

You might think that it is difficult to see any things in common between me and Olivia Wilde but they do exist, well, at least one. We have the same body type. As Olivia once said: “I have the torso of a tall woman and the lower body of a short woman.” plus short legs…
